Our Senior Class was recently invaded by the Normans!
We learned that the first Normans to come to Ireland were invited by Diarmuid McMurrough, the then King of Leinster, who was struggling to retain his throne.
Parkavonear Castle in Aghadoe, overlooking the lakes of Killarney was built in the 13th-century. It is very special as it is one of only two round Norman keeps remaining today.
We use project-based learning to encourage deeper engagement with the learning content and to allow each child to express their learning using their own individual strengths. This approach encourages children to become active partners in their learning and fosters 21st century skills including IT literacy, collaboration and presentation skills.
We learned about the Normans together at school, and then the children each chose areas-of-interest to focus on and research at home. The standard of work produced was just incredible - maith sibh go léir! Táimid an bhródúil asaibh 😊
